The reason why I started my own Weblog

Opening my own internet homepage! At the age over 60! And in principle both in Japanese and English. Many of my friends may think I am crazy. Even myself think that this is a crazy idea. It sounds like BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goals), a word used in a book, "BUILT TO LAST" written by James C. Collins and Jerry I. Porras.

However, the "Mere Old Man" has got a motivation. Last year I read a book named "Internet Exploration" written by Mr. Takashi Tachibana, an extremely well-known journalist in Japan. Mr. Tachibana says in that book that nobody at his 60' would try to explore the Internet. When I read this book, I was already over 60 years old. So, I thought that I could not overlook Mr. Tachibana's challenging comment.

Immediately I rushed to a nearby computer shop and bought a lap-top computer model. Usually, whether it's a car or Video, I never read the so-called users' manual. I really hate reading them. I dislike anything that I cannot see with my own eyes or I cannot touch with my own hands. So, at home, even a broken electric bulb is usually changed by my wife.

Since I didn't read the manual of my P/C, it took me a long time to understand the mechanism and how to handle it. Many times I almost gave up. But whenever I said, "I'm gonna give this up." I heard Mr. Tachibana's voice saying, "You are too old to learn about P/C's and the Internet."

Thanks to Mr. Tachibana's voice, I am now opening my own homepage. I would definitely have given up if I hadn't heard his challenging and mocking voice. Thank you very much Mr. Tachibana. Thanks to your mocking voice, I am now able to see your homepage! Apart from your books, I may be able to speak with you on the Internet! What a prize I can get!

As said before, the basic story-line of the "Mere Old Man" basically comes in line with what his friend, Dr. Paul Clayton, expert in micro-nutrients and nutritionally based disease believes and writes. I feel my responsibility is to let our people know the risk of degenerative diseases.

However, the "Mere Old Man" is personally interested in environmental science and therefore, there is at least one common point of interest with our Mr. Tachibana and that is endocrine disrupting chemical substances. When I

knew I could handle the Internet myself, the very first thing I did was to open Mr. Tachibana's homepage. Therein, Mr. Tachibana mentioned the classic book, "Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson, "Our Stolen Future" by Theo Colborn et al and "The Feminization of Nature" by Deborah Cadbury. In this respect, Mr. Tachibana and the "Mere Old Man" have a common interest. Of course, that is only what the "Mere Old Man" thinks himself. I can't speak for Mr. Tachibana. So, occasionally, the "Mere Old Man" may run away from his friend, Dr. Clayton, and debate with Mr. Tachibana about the future of our mother earth.

Also, the "Mere Old Man" loves jokes very much. The blacker the joke is the better. So, again, here is another reason why he tends to sidetracked sometimes.

The "Mere Old Man" has once lived in quite a few foreign countries. And even now he makes a few overseas trips a year for his business. However, he is still a Japanese and a lots of good friends in Japan. Therefore, when he is not available for this page, he may ask his friends to contribute to this arena.
